How to Copy a Post Link on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and X
Every comment picker, ours included, starts with the link to the post your giveaway runs on. Copying it is easy once you know where each app hides it — and the most common reason a draw will not start is a link to the wrong thing: a profile, a Story, a group, or a search page instead of the post itself.
Below are the exact steps for each platform on phone and computer, the link formats that work, and the links that never will.
Instagram: copy a post or Reel link
- Phone: open the post or Reel, tap ⋯ (top right on posts, bottom right on Reels) or the paper-plane Share icon, then Copy link.
- Computer: open the post so it fills the page and copy the address bar, or use ⋯ → Copy link.
- Links that work: instagram.com/p/…, /reel/…, /reels/…, /tv/…, instagram.com/share/… and instagr.am short links. Tracking such as "?igsh=" can stay.
- Links that will not: your profile (instagram.com/yourname), hashtag or Explore pages, and Stories — Story replies arrive as direct messages, not comments.
TikTok: copy a video link
- Phone: tap the Share arrow on the video, then Copy link. You get a short vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com link — that works as it is.
- Computer: open the video and copy the address bar (tiktok.com/@name/video/…), or use Copy link beside the video.
- Links that will not: a profile (tiktok.com/@name), Discover or search pages, and Live streams — Live comments are not kept after the stream ends.
YouTube: copy a video, Short or live stream link
- Phone: tap Share under the video (or on the Short), then Copy link. youtu.be links with "?si=" work as they are.
- Computer: copy the address bar, or Share → Copy.
- Links that work: youtube.com/watch?v=…, youtu.be/…, /shorts/…, /live/…, and m.youtube.com or music.youtube.com versions. A link that also names a playlist is fine — the video is used.
- Links that will not: a channel (youtube.com/@name), search results, and private videos (unlisted videos are fine).
Facebook: copy a Page post link
- Computer: click the post's time stamp (for example "2 h") to open it on its own, then copy the address bar — or ⋯ → Copy link.
- Phone: tap Share on the post, then Copy link. The facebook.com/share/p/… link this gives you works.
- Links that work: Page posts, photos, videos, Reels, permalink.php links, fb.watch links and facebook.com/share/ links.
- Links that will not: the Page itself (facebook.com/YourPage), Group posts and posts on personal profiles — Meta's API only allows reading comments on Pages you manage.
X (Twitter): copy a post link
- Phone: tap the Share icon on the post, then Copy link.
- Computer: click the post to open it and copy the address bar (x.com/name/status/…).
- Links that work: x.com and twitter.com status links, mobile.twitter.com, and t.co short links.
- Links that will not: a profile, a search, and posts from protected accounts.
When a link still will not load
- Make sure it is the post, not the profile — the most common mistake on every platform.
- Check the post is public (or unlisted on YouTube). Private posts and protected accounts cannot be read by any tool.
- Instagram and Facebook: connect the account or Page that published the post. Those platforms only let an account read comments on its own posts.
- Check the post still exists — deleted posts return nothing.
More questions, answered
Why does my Instagram link not work in a comment picker?
Usually because it is a profile or Story link, or because the post belongs to an account you have not connected. Instagram only lets an account read comments on its own posts, through a connected Business or Creator account.
Do I need to remove "?si=" or "?igsh=" from the link?
No. Those are sharing trackers; the link works with or without them.
Can I use a link to a Facebook Group post?
No. Meta's API does not give access to Group comments, so no legitimate tool can read them. Run the giveaway on your Facebook Page instead.
